The E-paper is based on four standard travel arrangements that numerous organisations adopt: the fixed mileage allowance, individual versus collective public transport subscriptions and the freelancer with season ticket. We compared these to the scenario in which only the actual mileage covered is payable. Thus the same arrangements for a 1st class train upgrade for example, yet with a flexible variant, the so-called ‘pay-per-use’. As we suspected, the flexible arrangement was cheaper in all scenarios. The cost benefits range from the freelancer who could save a further 600 euros this year to an organisation of 600 employees that could save more than 900,000 euros if the current travel solution were made more flexible. What could you save?
